Mattapoisett Center School remains the elementary school for the Old Rochester school district.
Henry Huttleston Rogers donated the funds to build the school, and the building was dedicated on January 2, 1899. Rogers was a prominent figure during the Gilded Age, a period of economic growth and industrialization following the Civil War.
